Quotable

Mary: mommy I don't want any more of this donut, so I think I'll throw it on the floor!
Me: um no, you know what to do with food that you don't want anymore
Mary: oh I know! (Runs over and puts the rest of her donut on Thomas' tray)
Thomas: (eats donut)

Well that's not what I was thinking but it works!

The princess turns 5

Look at this face!
Sometimes it's hard to believe that God gave me this amazing blessing! And to think, 5 years ago this was her:
Crazy. She has changed so much. At this age she is so fun. She loves to climb, jump, RUN everywhere she goes, read/look at books, and play with anyone who is up for it! She also loves the water and always asks when we can go to the water park (the neighborhood pool).

She loves her brothers, although she is now getting to a point where she wants to do things without them sometimes too. But they aren't with her on that yet, they still want to ALWAYS be with Mary.

She can do so many things for herself now, which is an awesome place to be as a mom. She just started her first soccer team and it is hilarious for the onlookers. The kids are all so excited and just run around like crazy people chasing a ball. I think kids just like to be together and running at the same time?

Most of the time she is very sweet and gentle. She loves to help her brothers (especially her baby T man) and she thinks of others often. Today we are going to lunch with GG and after soccer we will head over to flubs for a birthday treat! Hopefully she will feel very loved and appreciated on her big 5 birthday!

Quotable

Mary was SO excited to start soccer. Her excitement comes out in questions. About 100 of them. Here is an example...

Mary: mommy what will we do if it rains?
Me: you just play in the rain
Mary: or I have another idea! We could go on the concrete and jump in the puddles!
Noah: but mare you will have to take your shoes off to jump in the puddles
Mary: I can just bring my rain boots!

Good problem solving Mare.

Touch a truck!

Every year our town has a big touch a truck event. There are probably 20 vehicles that the kids can explore. Mary's favorite? The bookmobile. Noah's favorite? The fire truck with the ladder fully extended. He asked if he could go up on it. He's all talk though, we could hardly get him to sit in the fire truck!

Creation Museum

We did a unit about dinosaurs a couple weeks ago so we thought it would be a good time to take the kids to the creation museum! My favorite part about that place is the outdoor walking trails and gardens. Seriously beautiful...
 They particularly loved the bridges

 And the petting zoo

I was so proud of them for actually letting the animals eat from their hands. Noah especially was not having it at first, but I think when he saw that the alpaca didn't eat Mary's hand off he was a little more willing to try.
We walked through the whole museum and it was fun to point things out to the kids and reiterate what we have been teaching them about creation. And every time we saw a dinosaur they would get wide eyed and ask, "is that a REAL dinosaur???" Even though we talked multiple times about how dinosaurs aren't around anymore and that all the ones in the museum are fake...

Thomas got to stay with grandma for the day and he was not complaining. Here he is pushing his face up against the stove to look inside. Grandma turned the light on in the stove and showed him how to look in so he kept coming back for more!

Dentist: Good job Noah! Go get a drink and spit out your toothpaste!
Noah: But I always eat my toothpaste!
